Notice of Candidacy Information
Information regarding filing for candidacy for the Nov. 7, 2023 Simpsonville municipal elections
NOTE: Visit the "Elections Ordinance" link at the bottom of the page to read Chapter 16 - ELECTIONS in the Simpsonville Code of Ordinances.
1. Eligible candidates for municipal office who plan to run in the Nov. 7, 2023 election must file a Notice of Candidacy with the City of Simpsonville Clerk of Council by no later than 12 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2023.
2. Candidates running for municipal office must be qualified electors and reside in the ward for which they are running if seeking a City Council seat or reside in Simpsonville city limits if seeking the mayoral seat.
3. The Notice of Candidacy form must be completed by the prospective candidate in the presence of the Clerk of Court.
4. City Council and mayoral candidates must pay a fee equaling 5 percent of the annual salary of the office for which they are filing.
