Smoke detectors donated to Fire Department by local company

Property Plus Donates 200 Smoke Detectors

Community Risk Reduction Program receives $1250 value

Simpsonville, S.C. — The Simpsonville Fire Department received on Thursday a donation of 200 smoke detectors from local company Property Plus.

With batteries to accompany the smoke detectors, the value of the donation by Property Plus totaled $1,250, which was reflected in a check presentation involving Property Plus owner Nick Conner and Business Development Manager Brent Poynter and Chief Wesley Williams with Simpsonville firefighters.

Chief Williams said the Simpsonville Fire Department is grateful for the donation by Property Plus.

"Smoke detectors are essential to a safe home because they save lives and property," Chief Williams said. "The 200 smoke detectors donated by Property Plus will without a doubt add a sense of safety to families who need replacement or working smoke detectors."

The 200 smoke detectors will be dispersed among the Simpsonville fire engines to provide to residents throughout the fire district when needed. Lt. Jeffrey Jennings said sometimes on calls homeowners will have broken or old smoke detectors or no smoke detectors at all, and the donation by Property Plus ensures those residents will receive working life-saving smoke detectors.

"A major initiative in the Community Risk Reduction Program by the Simpsonville Fire Department is to provide residents with the education and tools that they need to protect themselves, their families and their property, and one of those basic tools is a smoke detector," Jennings said. "Those smoke detectors on our fire engines will be the difference between losing everything or protecting everything."
